Shahi Kasuri Dahi Bhallay Ingredients

  • Yellow Lentils (Moong daal powder 1 cup)
  • Cumin seeds (1 tsp)
  • Chili flakes (1 tsp)
  • Mango powder (1 tsp)
  • Salt (1/2 tsp)
  • Oil (for frying)
  • Baking powder (1 tsp)
  • Water

Garnish Items

  • Cumin seeds (A pinch)
  • Chili flakes (A pinch)
  • Chili powder (A pinch)
  • Mango powder (A pinch)
  • Fresh tomato (1 chopped)
  • Coriander leaves (Finely diced)

Shahi Kasuri Dahi Bhallay Recipe

Lentils, chili flakes, cumin seeds, mango powder, salt, and baking powder are mixed with small portions of water and a medium thick batter is made. The batter is allowed to set for 15-20 minutes and then the oil is heated in a deep pan. Teaspoons of batter are added in the medium heated oil and the bhalla are fried until their color is light golden. The oil is removed and drained with the kitchen towel. Salt is added in yougurt and it is beaten till it is smooth. The bhalla are placed in water for 10-15 minutes and then the excess water is gently removed by pressing them. The dahi bhalla are then placed in the bowl of yogurt and then chilli, corriander leaves, cumin seeds, and mago powder are added as garnish. These dahi bhalla are served chilled and tamarind is also used often to add a little sour taste.
