A brief history:

As mentioned earlier this delicious snack was at first invented by Haji Muhammad Jan when he migrated to Pakistan in 1948 from New Delhi. The store was opened in 1950. Hence it is proved that he took a taste of snacks from India right after the partition of sub-continent. As his wife has an expertise in a recipe known as Arwikaypattay, he thought that introducing it will surely get famous instantly. So he tried this recipe by copying it from his wife cook book. But the former recipe encounter a bit different ingredients as compared to the Nimko, the arwi k pattay is made by rolling Colocassia leaves in a spiral form and a spiced chickpea is added to it then these leaves are steamed and at last these leaves are fried to get a final look of arwi k patty, and now it is known be a famous Gujrati recipe. The nimko store is now handled by the grandson of the pioneer Haji Muhammad Jan and now he has renamed the store as Nimco corner. Now this traditional recipe is available in a variety of snacks including mixed nimco,dal mot, namakparay and khewra. The customers of this ancient store producing the famous Karachi Nimko have reached to a number of 1000 per day.
